Dealing with change in difficult times

The world is CRAZY right now!! If anyone had said that this is how my 2020 was going to start, with the world locked down, socially isolated and on the verge of an economic crisis, I don't think I would have believed them. I've always considered myself fairly good at dealing with change, I don't always like it to start, but I embrace it and eventually champion it, as I start to see the possibilities arise. I took a chance a few years ago at changing my life entirely. I quit my job and enrolled in a full time masters program and recently got licensed as a psychotherapist. Now here I am, trying to start my new career in the middle of a pandemic. Not ideal by any means, but not much I can do to change the circumstances.

So the first step for me, has been accepting the current situation as it is and realizing I have no control over what is happening in the outside world. The only control I have is my response to it. Next, has been letting go. This one is HARD! It's not easy letting go of the life and world we had before the virus took over. What we need to keep in mind is that it's not the end of the world, it's the beginning of a new one. Sure there will be a lot of pain and struggles as we all come to terms with this, but there will also be beauty and love. We're already seeing repair of the ozone layer, and animals thriving as we lessen our impact. Maybe, just maybe this is the course correction we all needed, the wakeup call to right the ship that was headed towards a climate crisis and crisis of humanity.

Once you've worked through some of the resistance and grief and you're in a more peaceful place, you can ask, what do I do next? Well, ultimately that is up to you. How are you going to transform your life, your way of being? Are you going to continue growing your own food with your quarantine garden? Are you going to spend less while spending more time with friends and family? Hardly ever are we granted long periods of time to pause and reflect on life and our choices, to sit in the cocoon. Here's your chance to TRANSFORM!
