GET TO KNOW ME
Karen E Jeffrey (she/her), BSc Pharm, MA Psych
Registered Psychotherapist (Q)
I am a registered psychotherapist, athlete, biohacker, intersectional feminist, adventurer, and all around humanist. Prior to getting my masters in counselling psychology, I worked as a pharmacist in clinical settings, biotech and sales. I've managed teams and projects but my passion lies in working with people one on one.
I have experience in addiction, relationship and intimacy issues, as well as depression, anxiety, trauma, bipolar disorder, PTSD and ADHD. I am poly and kink friendly, and consider myself an ally to the LGBTQI2-S and BIPOC communities. I am keeping abreast of the latest science and research surrounding psychedelic therapy and how that will assist in the treatment of trauma, PTSD and other disorders in the near future.
I use a holistic approach to psychotherapy. Through an integrated approach, we will not only address what is present in each session, but also what is stored in your body by way of trauma or past hurts that are affecting your day to day life. We will explore past patterns of relating, and use a mindfulness-centered somatic approach for getting you unstuck, and healthier in each session.
For those that are new to therapy I will provide psychoeducation around the brain, nervous system and attachment styles. I will help you to develop your own mindfulness practice and provide other resources for you to start feeling better quickly.
I believe that an honest and trusting relationship with a therapist is the start of a path towards healing and growth. Sometimes we just need a little push!
